Description

Nusakana is an open world RPG about fishing, adventures, friendship, and the dark secret of the titular island, set on a tropical island. It offers gameplay element from game such as Atelier series, our main inspiration, with open world element, though identical to western RPGs, is closer to JRPGs’ style of open world, emphasizes more on the freedom of how do you play the game, rather than what to explore inside the game. Set in a post great war and post magic age, similar to Earth's middle 20th century. The world is just recovering from a great war, and political powers from the north are seeking new lands rich with natural resources in an effort to rebuild their torn country. Located in the southern hemisphere, Nusakana Island is a budding tourist destination rich in mana, a natural resource comparable to oil with magical properties. The use of magic in this age, especially as a weapon, is forbidden, but with magic users erring on the brink of extinction, it does not pose much of a problem. Only those with the blood of Elvans, an ancient tribe who mastered the art of magic, can fully utilize the power. With so many eyes set on Nusakana Island, it was not long before it was flooded with tourists, researchers, and shady-figures alike. In Nusakana you are playing as a nameless fisherman visiting Nusakana island. The goal is to uncover the mysterious letter you received in 1 year. But 1 year is a long time, there’s so much free time to use for discovering what it offers to you. As a fisherman you can try to catch rare, legendary fishes. Or you can go on adventure around the island, discovering its secrets, meeting new people and love interests. Maybe mercantile is your game? You can trade the island commodities with foreign merchants and acquire wealth. You can even forget your goal and experience how bad the bad ending is. Everything is up to you, the player, how do you want the game to progress and end.

History

Nusakana was born when Alfi and Jason, the founder of Studio Namaapa were chatting one afternoon way back in 2012 about certain ridiculous japanese fishing games. Out of nowhere ideas came and inspired us to make something like it as a parody. Starting as a joke, Nusakana soon grew and we began to add many stuff and things. Over the course of time, Nusakana have been expanded, with full cast of quirky characters, unique battle system, survival and crafting system, and a subtle dating mechanics. The game, that originally only planned to be a small fishing minigame now grow to a full open-world RPG, with full storyline to boot. From a small idea now it turns into something that we put our passion thoroughly. We have been working on it tirelessly and hoping it will be fun to play for everyone as fun as we spend our time making it. Release date is planned at 2nd Quarter 2015, but due to time constraint and contents might be delayed until the 3rd Quarter of 2015.
